Memories from childhood 2
This pretty little pot is Royal Crown Derby and it originally belonged to my Grandma. It didn't seem to match anything else but I can distinctly remember it on the green chenille covered tea table at Grandma's house. It may have held sugar but I have a vague recollection of it having sticks of celery in it served with brown bread and butter referred to as 'cake' by my Grandma.
I don't know whether it was just on special occasions but I was sometimes sent to the shop at the bottom of the street to get trifles. I loved this as they came in different coloured wax paper, fluted dishes and had a sprinkling of chopped green nuts on top. Can't remember what they tasted like!
Now it stands on my kitchen window ledge and as you can see it hold an African violet - one of the few house plants I seem able to keep.
I love it!
