Who am I to disagree?

Elementary my dear Watson

For those that follow this journal and didn't solve the case put before them yesterday, here's exactly why the journal was entitled Stupid Boy!. As we watched the Cattle Egret, I got the camera out to compose the shot - nothing - it wouldn't focus, nothing! Slowly it dawned, the battery was still at home in the battery charger. Let's just say I was a wee bit annoyed. So yesterday's photo was taken with Mrs L's pocket camera through the telescope. Not great quality, but at least recognisable. Yet another mistake to be learnt from.

Well it's been a good day for an indoor blip, cold and damp, I only ventured out the house for my six monthly eye check-up. My right eye is virtually useless, a combination of a detached retina that was operated on back in 2003 and glaucoma which was spotted in 2005. Since the detached retina op I've been told I'd develop a cataract in the eye and this is part of the monitoring that goes on, Seemingly the cataract hasn't developed that much since I first started being monitored, but today I was given the option of having it removed.

Seemingly these days the cataract no longer has to be that bad before a surgeon would consider operating and they would also implant a lens that would correct the vision. This will not correct the damage caused by the detached retina or the glaucoma, but does promise some sort of improvement - even zero improvement but with corrected vision would mean I could lose the "bug eyed" spectacles. Currently I have a minus 7 strength lens in my right eye and only plus point five in my left. I said I'd think about it for my next check-up, but am swiftly coming to the conclusion that I should go ahead as soon as possible.
