Tesla time
Serbian-American inventor, scientist, and genius engineer in the realm of high-frequency electro-magnetic radiation technologies Nikola Tesla is one of my hobbies and pursuits. Tesla has been called a wizard and the father of inventor of modern technology by some. He is largely misunderstood or unknown to most. I'm interested in the man behind the myths. He did create and perfect alternating current (thus defeating Edison), invented radio technology (which Marconi expropriated without proper credit in his own work), invented wireless power and remote controlled devices, early fluorescent and neon type lighting, and conceptualized particle beam weapons decades before anyone else, and much more. He is more famous for his eccentricities, which is unfortunate - and a fringe following who thought he was an alien or talked to them or created anti-gravity devices and such far out and unsubstantiated nonsense which obscures his true contributions. Our society owes much to his legacy. Another person of interest I am studying towards my MA in Science and Technology Studies is American experimental physicist Robert J. Van de Graaff.
The book title that is obscured is AC/DC: The savage tale of the first standards war. This is part of my collection of Tesla books - both fiction and non-fiction.
