London to Brighton Veteran Car Rally

This is one of the entrants in today's rally. A bit of a cold day but sunny and bright. This race also known as the 'Old Crocks Race', takes place every year and is the longest running car race. Cars have to have been built prior to 1905 and have three or four wheels. However, the organisers invite a few cars built outside of this period. Today there were 500 cars taking part.

The race takes place on the first sunday in November and commemorates the Emancipation Run of 14 Nov 1896 which celebrated the coming into law of the Locomotives on the Highway Act. This increased the speed limit from 4mp to 14mph and said that no longer was a man on foot carrying a flag required to preceed the vehicle.
