A Hug Goodbye
When two people have a common interest, age is of no consequence. Gary, our next door neighbor, and and my sweet son love baseball. This season these two fanatics have watched hours an hours of the game on TV. They have shared dinners, baseball cards, trivia and lots of emotions over the wins and the losses. They have bonded in a very special way.
Gary told us today that he and his wife are moving to Indiana this weekend. (They have been living with his Mom) My son shed many, many tears and I shed tears for his loss of a friend.
We always say "we will stay in touch," but somehow people drift in and out of our lives, never to connect again.
I snapped this quick shot while Gary was in between loading boxes into his truck. It will token on a cork board, a memory of time happy time, a boyhood friend that shared his love for the game.
I wish Gary and his wife all the best in their journey and I do hope that we will meet up again someday. Thank you for giving of your time to my son. It makes the world seem smaller. I know he will miss you greatly.
