Fireworks going off all over the place. Bristol is known as firework city because they are not confined to Guy Fawkes day. Sadly I just keep thinking how many mouths could have been fed instead - even cutting short a display by 5 minutes such as the Olympics perhaps would have kept one or more refugee camps in food and medicines for more than a year. Anyway - enough of that. It is pouring with rain and after such a brilliant October fireworks will brighten a lot of hearts.

Just remembered - today is the day to put the ram in when you want lambs to start coming on All Fool's Day. Used to have a flock on west Exmoor and loved that time - promise of spring even in early autumn.
