On the roof

Not much to do today....

A few chimneys and a few so-called "bypass stacks"; originally meant to be used when the huge valves in the outlet of the gasturbines were shut during standstill at night.
The idea was to lead the air coming from the gasturbine on turning gear (it acts as a huge fan then) around the boiler so it would not cool down so much.
It never worked as intended because at start-up we have to vent the boiler (that's a demand from the Gassupplier (Gasunie) ).
When a gasvalve leaks an amount of gas can accumulate in the boiler during standstill causing a big bang when the gasturbine ignites....

We once had such a big bang during my shift and I can tell you, that's not so good...
