The final reminder

I had mum and dad and Paul over for tea tonight. I've had a day off today so I pulled the living room together and set it up for a dinner party with candles and glasses and coffee cups.

Mum couldn't stop talking about how nice everything tasted, dad gave me a couple of solid wood chopping boards and Paul licked the trifle bowl clean after we'd all had our fair shares.

They left early, partly because I have to be up for work and partly because dad wasn't feeling too well.

These candles are being allowed to burn out as the final reminder of a good evening.
