Unexpected consequence of putting the clocks back

I altered all the clocks this morning. When I took this one off the office wall, the hook came with it - one of those plastic ones you stick on with adhesive strips. I thought it would be easy to just change the hook, but the new one is bigger than the old one, and it won't fit the hole in the back of the clock, even after I'd widened it. I started humming that Flanders & Swann song, 'The Gas Man Cometh'.

So I thought I'd try making a new loop for the hook to go into with some Sugru. After all, I'd fixed the toaster with Sugru, when the handle broke off, and I made a new ferrule for my Rwandan walking stick with it. Sugru takes 24 hours to set, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if my cunning plan has worked.
