I arrived at 10, the joint had already been in the oven for an hour. The cauliflower was being boiled dry and the broccoli was visibly shaking about imminent death.

Charlie declined all vegetables at the table. I really couldn't blame him, my fork barely touched a carrot before it disintegrated.

She's a lovely lady my MIL, but she really should stick to baking cakes for the Mothers Union.
