Natures fabric

I noticed this interesting phenomenon on Westbourne Grove today.

What seems to have happened is that fresh tarmac has been laid down quite recently in a strip on part of the road. Leaf fall has happened and the leaves stuck to the wet tarmac. They have then been driven over and compacted.

Hence leaf pattern on some parts of the road and not others.
