Stovies
Yes, I have now blipped my tea.
Following on from my recent blip of a computer screen.
Deary me....
Anyway, a traditional Scottish winter comfort food. We had a nice bit of roast lamb on Sunday, the remains of which go into the stovies.
My recipe is:
Fry a sliced onion in butter, add the roast meat, chopped into cubes (you can alternatively use sausages or corned beef)
Add sliced potatoes (I usually par-boil them, first) enough for a good plateful each. Cover with boiling water and a stock cube, simmer covered until the tatties are falling apart. Serve with oatcakes and a glass of milk.
Edit: Forgot to say, plenty of salt and pepper and you can use beef as well...
