The men in my life (well two of them!)

Bright and breezy morning and the forecast not too bad, so we decided to go off for a long hill walk. We parked at Castledonovan then headed inland and upwards. What a remote and windswept landscape, high moorland - orange grasses on top of dark black peat, and the higher we went the more spectacular the views. In true Brit fashion, we had a picnic sheltering in a little rocky alcove while gales blew around us. The highlight was arriving at the house of 'George of the sky'.  Now a very picturesque ruin, this remote little house was built in the early 19C and was once home to George and his family - so called sky because it literally does feel up in the clouds.  It was tucked into the hillside and had space for the family and the cattle, pigs, sheep and hens, They were self-sufficient and earned a little money from gathering peat.  Get a glimpse on my blipfolio One mile from home and the heavens opened and we were drenched but a good walk was taken.
Too dark and misty and vast to get a good blip of the scenery so here are my travelling companions - on the walk and in life!!! Himself and son number 1, Will. Will''s just over for a few days on half term, getting some sleep and fresh air. He works with special needs students in a college - pretty full-on stuff so Ireland is always a good place to recharge batteries. He's also a pretty red hot photographer and intermittent blipper - crabtree
