Accidental Art
My neighbours had a rather old and beautiful ash tree cut down the other week as it was in danger of splitting. They reckon it was around 100 years old so it was quite a momentous occasion. They had watched their kids grow up running around it and climbing it. It was also a haven for all sorts of wildlife.
Anyway they kindly gave me a few of the trunk cross sections for our garden. I had a closer look at them today and noticed the patterns that the chainsaw had made in the wood. They're actually really pretty considering that they're accidental.
