Preparations for Demolition of MLC
AKA the Manchester Courts.
Built in 1905-6, this building was once the tallest building in New Zealand.
There have been attempts to save the building, but repeated strong aftershocks have made it too unstable.
The original earthquake was bad enough, but with all the magnitude 4 and 5 shocks we have had since, more structural damage to homes and buildings appear daily...
The yellow digger is sitting atop a big pile of soil that will be spread over the road to try and protect it from falling debris. The black plastic on the fences is supposed to limit the spread of dust and debris as well.
I shall Blip it again as it is slowly dismantled
