Korenbeurs & A-kerk
Today two buildings in one photo :) The front building is the Korenbeurs, this building was build between 1862 and 1865 for the sales of grain. Nowadays a supermarket uses the building.
Behind the Korenbeurs is the A-kerk, officially known as "Der Aa-kerk", which is a church. This building has quite a history, it started out in 1247 as a chapel and grew into this church over the next centuries. The tower you see here was build in 1711, after the former tower was destroyed during the war in 1672. This war is known in Groningen as the "Gronings Ontzet" which was the war against "Bommen Berend".
