El Corte Ingles

El Corte Ingles (roughly translates as The English Cut) and is a chain of big, high quality department stores in Spain, and there are two stores in Barcelona. The Spanish love them! It's family run by two sisters apparently, who always come near the top of the list of the richest people in Spain. They spend lots of money on publicity and these billboards are part of their autumn/winter fashion campaign and are outside of La Illa Shopping Centre, which is in our barrio. We saw La Illa being built and back in the 'good old days' it housed a very well-known British high street store, known for its quality and its underwear. We saw it come, and then very sadly we saw it go! Anyway, back to El Corte Ingles, they'll no doubt have their famous Christmas lights display all ready to launch us into the festive spirit very soon! I suppose this pic is another sort of self portrait.
