Blue Hills

His Lordship thought that in view of the bad weather forecast, we could do with an afternoon of retail therapy and so it was that we made the trip to the famous House of Bruar, a very upmarket retail outlet on the A9 north of Pitlochry and apparently in the middle of nowhere.

There, the tweeds and pearls mix with the deerstalkers and brogues and the accents are county and cut glass....... well mostly. But being school holiday time there were other hoi polloi like us and the families dragging children round the restaurant and shops.

Before that expedition I had walked up the lane at the back of the house, a section of Cycle Route 7 which goes into Carrbridge and onwards to Inverness. There is a tarmac road for about 200yds and then a stony, muddy, puddly track up into the woods behind Carrbridge.
My blip is a view from the highest point towards the Cairngorms with their shrinking snow cover on the tops.

On the way home from Bruar to Boat of Garten we drove through Dalnaspidal and the pass of Drumochter in such low cloud that only the road was visible.

Things improved further north and the Cairngorms were clear of cloud and also most of yesterday's snow cover on the high peaks. I doubt there were many skiers on the slopes today.

Tomorrow is going to be more energetic and less expensive.
