Indian Summer...

We had a pleasant suprise today when we stepped outside. It's 72F (22C) outside, and it's only 11 in the morning!! This is what we call Indian Summer here.

An Indian summer is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs in autumn, in the Northern Hemisphere. It is characterized by a period of sunny, warm weather, (sometimes lasting well into November!) after the leaves have turned following an onset of frost, but before the first snowfall.

We've definitely had some frost within the last week, some of the nights were down to 30F (-1C), and the days didn't warm up beyond 40F (4C).

But today is a VERY different story!! When I opened the front door, I found so many ladybugs (ladybirds)...they were on the pumpkins, the mums, the door! I couldn't believe it!

We haven't ventured out yet today, Jack is home sick from school. He was up all night coughing with a little cold. But with this weather, I think we may have to go for a little walk at the park. Fresh air always makes you feel better, especially on a day like today!
