Walking the City

"You want the banana? I have. You want the wind up toy? I have. You want the tissue? I have. You want the coffee? I have."
"Actually mate I just want to squeeze through the impossible gap created by you and the bumper of that car. I also want you to stop staring at my girlfriend's tits."

Walked the length of 26th July Street today. A real Downtown Cairo experience...
Busy.
Loud.
Crowded.
Loud.
Tacky.
Loud.
As it was wisely summed up by Sarah: every sense was being polluted (though violated works just as well here!)

After decreasing our lung capacities by about a third, we finally located the small Italian restaurant that had been recommended to us. (It's safe to say that we won't be sharing that sentiment with anyone we like - though I can think of a few people I'm less keen on that may here about it's finer qualities soon!)

It was a fine Egyptian experience. All image and zero quality. The lasagne, when it finally did arrive (duping us both to believe that it was being freshly prepared and genuinely bhoying our spirits) was both small and had a varying temperature of scolding to freezing cold! Upon explaining this to 'the man', I was informed that I was welcome to object to the meal, but that I stuck to the agreed system of doing this during the food and to a waiter. His argument was weakened somewhat by the disclosure that not a single waiter had even bothered to come and check our meal and that essentially this was still mealtime - hence the half lasagnes on our plates! "This is the objection!" Needless to say, he did not receive the 64LE he required!

All that remained now was the agonizingly slow journey back along the Cornishe.

Brilliant!
