A good way to spend a spare day
You may not read this Blip before first taking a look at this one. The two are inextricably linked.
I had originally planned to be in Greece until this afternoon, but returned a few days earlier to attend a friend's wedding. That left me with a couple of spare days at the end of my holiday- so I decided to pop in to stay with my parents for a couple of days.
They stay in Cambridge, where I studied, and it is on the way from Devon to Edinburgh (kind-of). Today was a brisque day, so we were sun-worshipping out of necessity rather than vanity! After a morning in the garden, we headed into Cambridge to the University Centre for afternoon tea.
Arriving yesterday afternoon, I also managed to catch up with a couple other friends - two who first arrived in Cambridge in 2003 along with me, and one who has just recently arrived to follow a PhD. From the first visit I earned a pot of their green tomato chutney. I expect it will be wonderful, as I also discovered that they had entered the Romsey Garden show this year for the first time, and walked away with the first prize! From the second I lost out by a tenner, short changed by the cafe- I am sure by accident, as I paid with a 20... But despite that they remain my favourite place to take coffee and cake in the city ;) No blip from these, tho, as the camera battery was dead ;(
Tomorrow it is on the train back to Edinburgh for me, in time to start back at work the next day. See- I do work sometimes: I'm not always on holiday... I hope that I can remember the way...
(away to drool in the kitchen- mum's roast chicken vapours have drifted up the stairs...)
