Moontrekker Madness
So today is the day of the 25k charity night hike. Did a full day at work, rushed home, changed, filled my camel pack with water, packed my rucksack full of energy bars and batteries for my headtorch... went to meet my hiking partner, Emma for a carb feast at Pizza Express and then set off for Lantau on the ferry.
The ferry was full of Moontrekker people all looking fit (much fitter than us) and kitted out with hiking sticks and all sorts of other hi-tech walking kit... both highly nervous and a little seasick we started the race at 11:20.
The hike was pretty hard especially the last bit, Lantau Peak which is 1k high. The route was pretty hilly and it was hard at times in the dark when the ground was uneven and rocky. However, three camel packs of water, a banana and two peanut butter sandwiches carried us over the finish line at just before 7am. Having not slept for 24 hours we fell into bed as soon as we were home tired but very proud of ourselves!
