Shotts masts

Radio masts at Shotts in the sunset.

I think these masts are Janus like, in that they face two ways. One towards the East Central Scotland, the other towards West Central Scotland. They are like a boundary marker to my mind when I'm travelling along the M8 motorway to Glasgow from Edinburgh. Once past the masts you know you're getting close to Glasgow.

It is strange to think such masts are integral to the busy, buzzing, non stop world of modern electronic communications and yet they stand silent and sentinel like in the lonely places.
