Of Sunday evenings and a church

Most of Saturday was spent in the room due to the rather dismal weather conditions outside. Thankfully there was a bit if sun today and decided to go out for a while.

There is a small city called Pontoise near the place I live. Its a fairly old city and although it bore a slight desolate look on a Sunday it was pleasant to walk around. While there weren't any special attractions the city bore all the trademarks of a typical European town.

My friend and I visited a church which was desolate save for one apparently very pious woman who seemed lost in her thoughts. Most of the candles of the church were lit as I guess they would have completed their Sunday service a few hours ago. Despite the rows of empty chairs the lit candles infused a very warm feeling to the church - an almost invisible human presence. The person you can spot in the picture was my companion and not the woman I described earlier.

Decided to have a coffee at the only place which was open on Sunday - a restaurant with Indian and Pakistani cuisine. The tables were set up in the open and a gentle sun falling on my back helped brave the occasional wind. The owner, who hailed from the same part of the world as we were, was very happy to see us. He refused to accept the payment for our coffee and very graciously welcomed us in the future.
