Steller's Jay

These are beautiful birds with raucous calls and lots of intelligence. This is my new "Jay in Residence" since I lost the previous one, likely to a neighbourhood cat. Because I feed peanuts to them, there is rarely a territorial vacancy. This one moved in pretty quickly after the other one died. Like the other, he (she) sits in the tree outside the window and flaps and flutters until I offer the daily peanut. I can be coerced to give peanuts several times a day, I'm such a softy. I love these birds.
