The excavations are over
A bit dark, I know (it's a pig of a day here), but I hope it's clear enough to show that the archaeological excavations in Old College Quad are over, the pavements, walls and graves which have been found have been filled in again, and the diggers are creating a smooth surface on which to finish the renovations of the Quad, with paving and grass. It's been an interesting few months - albeit a wet one for the poor archaeologists.
Here is a picture of the early stage of the excavations.
Here is the University's own news item about the excavations giving some background and a prospect of how it should look next year.
In the mean time, I suspect we'll get lots and lots of mud as it's really too late to put down turf.
Update
In the comments, And so to bed (my partner) draws attention to his excellent photos of earlier stages of the Old College Quad refurbishment.
Here they are.
