Tiny Forest
Years ago, when I started really getting serious about photography, I was turned on to a book by John Shaw. John Shaw has published many books on nature photography and techniques. I used his books when I was still shooting only film. His suggestions and techniques were invaluable to my growth as a photographer. He has a wonderful pen and is truly a gifted artist.
He wrote a suggestion in one of his books on landscape photography that has stuck with me ever since. He basically describes landscape photography as the grand image and the minuscule. He suggested that we should look everywhere for a worthy landscape photo subject, including small spaces.
This is a suggestion of that concept. A "Tiny Forest" on top of a post in the middle of a nature preserve. One would think there were plenty of worthy subjects, but for some reason this caught my eye and I remembered John's insight.
I hope you enjoy it, and please, click on his name above and take a journey through some of the most fantastic color photography from all over John's world. He still teaches classes and is now completely digital. I'll be going to one of his seminars this coming year.
Have a great weekend to those in the southwestern hemisphere, you know who you are... and for everyone else - happy Friday!
