A Rat on Fifth Avenue

The rat indicates a building where a union is protesting some aspect of labor practices; they put a rat in front to draw attention to the building. I had seen this inflated animal (on my own) the day before, but only today did I realize its significance (which came back to me instantly when my wife explained it). I asked the people overseeing, and they confirmed this. There were no pickets or placards, and I didn't ask them about the issue. I did wish them luck.

We were back in lower Manhattan, mainly choosing tiles for the apartment we are renovating in New York. Afterward we drove back to Northampton.

I had other alternative blips, but this one won hands down--I wanted to tell the story.
