Olives

These are some of the olives we picked last week which have been in salt and herbs since then. Now they've lost their bitterness so I'm soaking them in spring water until tomorrow, then I'll put them in a jar with olive oil.... and we'll probably eat them when friends come to supper on Saturday. I'll put the next batch into salt in a day or so, ready for when our daughter comes in two weeks' time, as she loves olives.

Two of the friends who came to Wales with us have invited us to apéritifs this evening to see the DVD they've made of photographs from the trip (some of mine and theirs) and music, which will be fun.

Edit: the olives have to be pricked with a fork if you want to prepare them quickly like this.
