jeni and the beans

So small

Ben didn't want to join in with the crafts this morning, he did a bit and then decided that while everybody else was busy making things and sticking things, he could have the run of the place and play for a bit in peace.

Sensible lad.

He's in his own room for the second time tonight. Last night he pretty much demanded that he sleep in his own room, so we cleared the travel cots away and put the sofabed away, and put his cotbed in there, and he went to sleep no problem. He woke up about 1.30am and cried though, even though he was in his own bed I'm sure it must have been odd to be all alone. We'll see how he is tonight - I will keep telling him that when he wakes up, he is to come and find us, we'll only be in the next room. One day he'll come and find us. It took a few weeks when he was in his cotbed to get out of bed by himself and totter round the room to my side of the bed rather than lying there and crying, so I expect it will take a little while this time too. Or maybe he'll start spending longer and longer in his bed. That's the other thing I've been telling him, that if he learns to go to sleep by himself, he can spend all night in his own bed if he wants to! It's his choice though. He's more than welcome in our bed, especially if he makes his own way here, and especially if it means Steve or I don't have to get out of bed to re-settle him in his own bed.

He'll get there in his own time.
