Trees & Disease

There's a tree in my front yard with these specks all over its leaves. I asked my mom what they're from, and she said, "The tree has a disease that leaves those ugly spots all over it."

I think the spots give it character.
Then again, I think rust gives a truck character.

I looked up the disease; it's called "Anthracnose".
It made me wonder if trees feel pain. And then I felt silly for wondering that. [Plants don't have brains or nervous systems, duh.]
And then I felt silly for being so interested in the spots at all.

Not a whole lot worth journaling about today. Just another Wednesday, I suppose.
