New Clothes Day at Kazando Preschool

Today Mary, Charity and I revisited a very pre-school at Kazando, bringing resources and clothing with us. The tiny building accommodates 30 children and their two teachers. The teachers were delighted to see baskets, stools, chalk and a blackboard duster arriving. However the real excitement began when we started to distribute new clothes to each child. To see a child eagerly lining up to try on a new top and trousers or a dress and then looking down, admiring themselves- their sense of wonder and pride was palpable! Their parents were over the moon.
After the children went home, we met with the parents. Mary spoke about their school, the importance of education, good health and nutrition.
Finally a committee meeting was held, during which the plan for a school garden growing nutritious vegetables was agreed. Wells for Zoe will provide seeds once the ground has been dug.
A very busy but productive morning!
