Ravenglass
Today's big event was The One That Got Away!
The day started with an early morning trip down to the beach at Ravennglass, not far from where we are caravanning. Ravenglass is well known for its La'l Ratty miniature railway and also for the Gullery Nature Reserve on the dunes seen behind the estuary on this blip.
Later in the morning we went back to Wastwater. This time we spent time at the lakeside then went on to the end of the road to Wasdale Head. We were just making our way on foot beside St. Olaph's Church, the smallest in England, when round the corner of Lingmell came an RAF fighter plane!
It was so low that it was actually down in the valley between Great Gable and Lingmell. We had no warning it just came round the mountain and passed us so quickly that neither of us could focus and snap it! We stood, cameras at the ready incase it was being "chased" by another plane as they so often are.
No luck with that being repeated and, unlike The Red Arrows, our pilot did NOT do us another fly past!
