Aegean Paradise #10
Today we are all resting, after a couple of long days at the crag.
We couldn't have timed things better, in fact. Last night the storm blew over. We'd watched it out in thesea on a number of evenings over the past week, but last night we were in the middle of it. At about 5am in the morning we were all awake, gazing out of the appartment doors onto the balcony, witnessing the flashes all around as the electrical storm was in full flow. No forks of lightning, but that would have been no more impressive. Rather we were enveloped in a thick cloud that would ignite every few second, turning night to day. The rain lashed down, and the winds howled.
On a small island, you feel all the more attuned to the weather around you. When it is whipped into a storm like last night, 'attuned' become intimidated.
So this morning, we rested- with out eyes heavy and the crags wet.
Robbie dozing on the balcony wall (don't fall off!)
Jonny with half-term home-work (don't give up!)
Nicola gazing at the now-calm sea (dont' stop daydreaming)
Buzz in his book (don't lose your page)
James filing his nails (ahem callouses)
It's sunny now, and a warm breeze is drying the rock for my last day climbing tomorrow...
