Cellardyke washing line and Anstruther fish supper

Back blip

'I bet these will smell of a fresh sea breeze' is what I thought when I saw these clothes blowing in the wind on the shore of Cellardyke, just next door to Anstruther, Fife. I was staying with my brother on Saturday night in Anstruther and was looking forward to the famous fish and chips for 'tea'. Actually they weren't quite 'the famous ones' as my brother (and many of the locals here) swear the fish suppers from 'The Wee Chippy' (just along the road and with much shorter queues) are better! A bit of local knowledge here: people come from far and wide to Anstruther to sample the fish suppers from the restaurant and chip shop which for many years won the award for being the best in Scotland. A couple of years ago, after always being pipped at the post by places in England, it also won the award for the 'Best in Britain'. We certainly thoroughly enjoyed our fish supper (with salt, vinegar and brown sauce!), especially after our breezy walk along the coast to Cellardyke.
