Those Distant Mountains
As the year slowly draws to its end the look and feel of the mountains has changed greatly since the heady days of summer. Now clouds muster in the glens, pushing squally showers over the higher tops. The temperature has fallen bringing with it the hint of snow on a north wind.
On Saturday we traversed the three hills to the west of Glenshee. Though this area is criticised for the overdevelopment by the ski industry, we picked an interesting line that, for the most part, kept us away from the most unsightly areas.
This photo was taken on the long curving ridge which circles around from The Cairnwell, the distinctive pylon-capped Munro which sits directly above the ski centre, to Carn a' Gheoidh, the most isolated of the three mountains. The photo is taken looking east across the Pass of Glenshee towards the mountains which run south from Lochnagar into Perthshire.
