Gargilesse

The weather had turned cold and misty so we went on the tourist trail. First we went to a village called Argenton whose main claim to fame is an enormous gold Madonna upon the top of a church which is at the top of a hill. Then we went to Gargillesse which is full of artists and artisans. Its main claim to fame is that the author and lover of Chopin, George Sand lived here. It is absolutely charming with its old buildings clinging perched on the side of steep river valley.
