Hotwheels!

~~Backblip~~

We got the hire car today. It was awesome. We drove round all the north of the island and saw some amazing sights. It's a shame blip only allows one photo per day! (Hence all the links below).

Chose this one because I think it looks very holiday-paradise, and I like the lead-in line. It's also one of the first of the day. Beautiful, this was at xechoriarti beach - our first stop north of Tsilivi.

Took this shot of Mathew at our next stop at Alykes. Also got this shot of a sail boat (honest, it is) there.

Managed to get an Urban Portrait a little further in-land at Katastari.

From there we headed north again, and east out to the coast and captured this on the road to St Nicholas Road, where we took a boat trip to see the Blue Caves. I won't link, but they're on the flickr account lol.

Further North again, round the top of the island, to see their famous Pirate shipwreck. It's reputed to be a smuggler's ship, grounded while smuggling cigarrettes - but nobody was ever convicted for the crime, as the perpetrators climbed up the steep cliff faces, and escaped. Allegedly. When you hear of shipwrecks and smuggling and pirates, you think of old wooden galleon-type boats. This rusting hulk of metal is therefore somewhat disappointing. It's surroundings are not. And although this photo looks like the composition's pants, I hope you'll appreciate the view, and the fact that to take it we were perched on the precarious ledge pictured here from much safer ground!

Finished the day on the west coast, eating in a small mountain-top taverna that survives on the merit of it's sunset views. We had pizza (horribly oily) but were still too early for sunset. We asked for the dessert menu. They didn't have one, but from their own kitchen they got me some yogurt & honey, and prepared some fruit for Mathew. They didn't charge for the fruit. Then the sun went down. And it looked like this. I think it's beautiful. But I didn't want to blip it, because of tomorrow's blip ;-)
