Today's the day ........................ to look out the window

This is the view from our study window - where the computer is - where I do my blipping. And as you can see, this evening there was a bit of a sunset and if you look really closely, you can see the song thrush that is always on top of the telegraph pole at this time of evening, singing his heart out. You can also see the vapour trail of a plane in the sky.

A week or so ago, Will and I went to Florence for a few days (impressive eh?). The flight we took was from Edinburgh to Pisa - and then we got a bus from Pisa to Florence. We drove up to Edinburgh Airport, which took us about three hours. Then we checked in, went through security, hung around in the departure lounge, eventually went to our departure Gate and got on the plane.

It was a beautifully clear day, not a cloud in the sky and so it was very easy to pick out landmarks on the ground as the plane flew. We flew over the Borders in a big loop and then saw the Lake District mountains. Then Windermere was beneath us and blow me we were practically flying right over Kendal. It did seem like rather a waste of time to have driven up to Edinburgh in the first place!

But now we know where those planes are going when we see the vapour trails in the sky .....................
