Laughed so much it hurt.
Dara O Briain at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Brilliant sketch about how the film 2012 could have been vastly improved by replacing "the neutrinos are mutating" with "the Latinos are mutating", and John Cusack being chased by Gloria Estefan rather than lava. Still laughing at it now, and it's been about 12 hours.
Also, have just looked up Dara O Briain's twitter feed:
"Edinburgh playhouse: the only crowd who can laugh at a chainsaw accident but still demand you wear proper socks #youhadtobethere ".
I think you probably did have to be there, because the audience response to "have you ever saved a life?" was brilliant, especially as two of the stories weren't very dramatic, but were followed by something along the lines of:
"Well, I don't know if I saved his life or not, but the doctors said I did"
"What did you do?"
"I put his leg back together".
Turned out to be a horrific forestry accident featuring a chain saw and a 2 1/2 hour wait for an ambulance, but somehow the audience member's total down-playing of the story and O Briain's response turned it into one of the funniest anecdotes I've ever heard.
