Beacon

A miserable dreich day but for a few minutes in the middle of the afternoon the rain stopped and the sun shone. This copper beech at the end of our lane as we approach the house looks magnificent at this time of year when it catches the sun - all the better because the lane is relatively gloomy. The picture doesn't really capture the full effect. The tree also looks good in early spring when the leaves first open and it's caught in the rays of a fairly low sun.
