And got a 16 year old Bladnoch - distilled in 1993 when United Distillers mothballed the plant (it was re-opened under new ownership in 2000). It's in Gordon & Macphail's Connoisseurs Choice range. Might be worth holding on to. Or then again, maybe not.

Had some smoked mackerel for my tea. It's now repeating itself like a blip of the bloody Forth Bridges. Perhaps some of that Bladnoch would be a perfect foil to the smoky oiliness. Sweet, floral and dry grass flavours? Let's give it a try.
