Dinosaurs Galore
After getting in the van this morning I noticed a few extra 'friends' accompanying us to school. It was a rather loud trip, too, because most of these dinos have batteries and big roars. I felt a little silly going through the drive-thru coffee place with 5 dinosaurs staring at us. At least they got a good laugh. Today was my day to work in Landon's class and it is finally mellowing out a bit. It is nowhere near the same class that started in July. I'm impressed with the changes in the kiddos today and noticed such a big improvement....the teacher's done a great job with them. They got new 'centers' today, so that was their excitement of the day. She also tested Landon on his letter recognition/phonics today, and his score greatly improved since the last testing.
When I got home today I found a little surprise package on the front porch. An iPhone!!!!!!!!! My hubby surprised me with this little toy I've been wanting. Hopefully in the next couple of days I'll get my contacts/pictures switched to the new phone and start playing with it. We've had Verizon for quite a while, so I will have to get used to having AT&T again....but it's worth the switch for all the gadgets it has to offer. Looking forward to trying out the blipfoto app on it.
LIAM WAS SUPER EXCITED THAT TODAY HE STARTED LEARNING CURSIVE IN CLASS (3RD GRADE). HE CAME HOME AND SHOWED ME WHAT HE LEARNED AND PRACTICED, PRACTICED, PRACTICED. IT WAS CUTE TO SEE HIM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT.
Tried a new recipe, considering there weren't any sports/activities to be at tonight. It was slow-cooker pork roast with apples and pears. I also stretched my limits in the vegetable department. I've had an aversion to brussel sprouts for years (actually my whole life)...but I decided to test my taste buds again and make them. I made maple-glazed brussel sprouts and the kids actually liked them. I've heard parents tend to pass their aversions onto the kids simply through negativity, so I decided to stretch their limits, too. I might be making them again....still on the fence about it :) I let them take advantage of our free night (after homework, of course) and rented 'Marmaduke' from the Red Box while treating them to slurpees. Cute movie.
