National Museum of Scotland.
My sis and I were scoping out the museum today. C has a job interview there tomorrow so we were there to do a wee bit of recon.
We headed straight to the kids discovery stuff first! Lots of cool things to play with :o) and Dolly the Sheep is there!! Seriously, she's there. Go see! I very nearly blipped her. I may have to go back to do just that...
I had plenty of ideas for her to suggest in her interview.
(Claire, not Dolly. Dolly doesn't have an interview. She's a sheep. A dead sheep unfortunately, she wont be doing any interviews anytime soon I'm afraid.)
I'm not sure she found them all very helpful though... Top among them being that when they reopen the main part they need to put the Dodo Bird back where it used to be on the second floor and put it back to the original bird they had there before they had a better idea of what dodo birds actually look like and changed it to look like a large turkey.
Can't tell you how disappointed I was the last time I went looking for it. I had to ask someone where it was! That used to be the highlight of my childhood visits.
*sigh*
It's been six years since I made this disturbing discovery and I'm still not over it!
I really love the new part of the building where all the Scottish stuff is, I love all the lines and spaces and crisp edges. It really interesting to look at, I think I go as much for the building now as for the exhibits. Although the exhibits are great, especially the Changing Nation stuff on the 6th floor. It's particularly funny with The Proclaimers blasting out everywhere :)
All good stuff. Hopefully Claire is totally prepared for her interview now, fingers crossed she gets the job xxxx
