Overview
Although you can only see 5 of them in this photo, all 7 ducklings are going strong. Still a bunch of trouble makers and still escaping.
Ruairidh's constantly modifying their enclosure to fill gaps in the fence and provide shelter as they get bigger and madder.
Our ducks have never been very into shelter. They seem to prefer to be outside in the wildest weather. The one shelter they do seem to use is a bin on its side. Even then its only really used by the ducks when they are nesting. Thankfully Trout has used it for this brood to keep out of the worst of the cold and wet. Not sure how long they'll all fit in there.
The ducklings are now reaching the gangly, scruffy teenager stage. They seem to grow and stretch every time you turn your back and the pin feathers coming in fast.
In case you're wondering, I think the mallet was being used to hammer in canes to hold the fence up rather than disciplining any bad behaviour.
