A Family Affair

Week three of "Let's paint the kitchen cabinets white" remodel.

Let's put it to you this way. Those kitchen cabinets are currently outside piled up in our trailer. So basically those five days of sanding that I told ya'll about? Yep. Like I said, the cabinets are now out in the rain. But they are smooth. At least they are being retired in style.

New kitchen cabinets. Crazy good deal going on at home depot right now. Too crazy good to pass up. So we have had to sit down and re-evaluate our plan. What do we want to do? A quick band aid type of a remodel or basically a down to studs start from scratch type of deal?! I'll give you a hint. Our kitchen is basically down to studs right now. And the funny thing is, we haven't really put any money into it yet. It's just been labor. A labor of love as I like to call it.

New cabinets and counters will be delivered in a few weeks and will pull it all together again. But it is a little shocking seeing our kitchen completely empty, with an entire wall torn down. We have had some difficult choices to make over the last few weeks but we both truly feel that they have been good decisions thus far. Well, maybe not wasting my time sanding for five whole days but as my husband has reassured me, "without your sanding, we would have never considered painting the cabinets and without painting the cabinets, we would have never decided that these cabinets were just too damn old and flimsy to keep. So your sanding got us exactly to this point". "Hmmm, you know, I think you're right" I agreed.

So even though this is a project that got really big really fast, we are following a master plan and we are getting the work done very quickly. And our kids are helping us EVERY step of the way.

Operation Kitchen Demolition continues to be a family affair.
