Look, Mama!

We were pottering around in the yard this afternoon, making the most of the beautiful weather, when I heard my daughter call out, "Look, mama!" She was crouched down on the front lawn examining something that I at first assumed was a rock or acorn. It was a small garter snake. I loved that she didn't shy away from it. I said, "Keep an eye on it -- I'm going to grab my camera." I got my camera, turned around, and there she was. Holding the snake up for me. "To help you get a picture." That's my girl :)

Couldn't decide whether to post this one or this one with its tongue sticking out. I let her choose, and we both agreed this one was clearer.
