Junior shepherd
The grey cloud lifted, the sun shone and we all went off to our local autumn agricultural show. This happened a bit later than planned, because my middle son managed to get lost on the way back from a party on the day of the Great Eastern Fun Run, when half the streets in town were closed to traffic. We managed to find the street he was in, but were separated from him by the marathon course: meeting up took a lot of phonecalls and instructions to 'Walk south - that's towards the sun..'
The show was full of interesting people, animals of all sorts and a display of giant vegetables - the winning pumpkin weighed 367lb and was absolutely enormous. We were trying to work out how the owner managed to get it there intact. Despite all the other photographic potential, this young lad caught my eye, one of two contestants in the Junior Shepherd competition (the other looked as though he was his brother). He was seven years old and was obviously taking the responsibility of looking after his sheep very seriously.
