Extinct!
A while ago I blipped the ultrasaurus that was installed as a piece of art on Southsea common.
I believe it was made by Heather and Ivan Morison, along with a team of ex-employees from a serbian car factory. They built the steel skeleton of the dinosaur, before creating the body out of a hard, polyester shell from the old factory.
Today it was due to leave for Colchester to be installed there, however sadly last week it was destroyed by fire where it stood on Southsea common.
At first it was suspected arson however now the fire brigade believe that it was most likely due to faulty wiring on the lighting system on its underneath.
Today was the first time we have been to what is left of the dinosaur, which is not much.
Two weeks ago it was pouring with rain but toddler insisted on visiting the dinosaur, so I took her to see it. As the weather was so bad we were the only people there and sheltered from the rain underneath it. I explained to her how soon the dinosaur would be leaving for somewhere new and so we would not see it for a while. So she said "Bye Bye, love you dinosaur" as we left.
At least we got to say goodbye!
