Just over five
While Ewan was at his friend's birthday party at Fish Tank World, Mandy, Ellen and I took a quick drive to Aberdour in search of a cup of tea and a wee wander. Overall, I'd say Aberdour Castle is a wee bit of a disappointment of crumbling ruins and under-developed gardens although the women in the shop and the tea shop were very cheerful. They've got a nice wee orchard although I didn't think I'd be able to carry enough for it to be worth nicking any of their apples to add to the cider. The highlight for me was the doo'cot. Nice and gloomy and geometric.
The tea shop does a fine line in scones. So good that when church spilled out, the cafe was over-run by the village's pensioners. You don't get a better endorsement than that. If only they could lose the CD of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. There's no need.
When we got home I developed the film that I'd put through my wee Elioflex. I think I'll put it back on the shelf as an ornament. It's winding mechanism is a bit knackered which means that you need to wind on too much film to get it to cock the shutter. Haven't scanned any yet. Maybe it'll be worth fixing. I'll put some on Tumblr later.
The rest of the day was spent cutting, pulping and squashing apples. The first batch of cider is started - just over 5 gallons or 40 bottles. I reckon there's another 15-20 gallons worth of apples still on the trees and I haven't started 'helping' the neighbours by taking their surplus. Hic! (around this time next year).
